I have a nearly new dual 1.25 dual-boot MDD machine (9.2 and OSX) with a second, 80G maxtor drive for audio files, Superdrive, 2G RAM and Digital Performer 3.11, plus the PCI 324 card with 2408 original and an MTP AV with added MTP. I run exclusively OS 9.2, and the only active app is DP (I have Unisyn, but don't use it. Occasionally I will go to the web to download updates, but no email, porn, games or the like (Quicktime is installed, though.)

Some days it's real stable, others I can't record a three-minute track without crashing.

Is there ANYBODY out there with a similar rig that can tell me what extensions should be on and off to make this stable?

My drummer has the dual 1G version he bought preconfigured from Sweetwater, I copied his config and the box would barely get past launching DP before it crashed.

Help... wink.gif

Start with Mac OS base extensions and add the following extensions:
PCI 324 driver
FreeMIDI Power Plug
FreeMIDI System extension
FreeMIDI Softsynth extension so you can use QuickTime as a MIDI device
MOTU USB driver for MTP AV
SOMobjects
Shared library manager
Shared library
All QuickTime extension
Sound Control panel so you can use 2408 as in/out port for all audio.

Don't forget to go to basic menu and select multiple CPU.

Thanks, Azusa. That's basically what I have, but I'll look more closely.

I think you might have something that conflicts with you set up.
You should get Norton Systemworks to check everything and keep your computer in shape.

My set up: 9.2.2 , DP 3.1.1, 2408 mkII, etc. It's solid and no problems at all.
One time I was working 18 hrs. straight then fell to sleep without turning off the computer, and 7 hrs. later the whole thing still waiting for me.
So I went back to work another 10 hrs. smile.gif
