Hi everyone

Pls be kind - I'm a newbie to the forum AND MOTU DP4 (after using DP3 for about a year).

After a successful installation, upon launching DP4 I get the following error:

Program Error: an unknown driver was specified (MOTUAUDIOSystem MAS MasDriverMgr.cpp, 89 [33:0]).

I've also just installed a new M-Audio 2496 Audiophile card, and must manually key the hardware specs into the 'Configure Hardware Driver' dialog prompt box that appears.

Thanks for any help

This is an known error, checkout the http://www.unicornation.com/ website or the tech-support site at MOTU for an explanation.

You can also email - techsupport@motu.com.

Thanks, Dixie.

Y'see, it pays to pay attention... I thought I had downloaded the panther driver for the Delta 2496. Turns out, I installed the Jaguar version, and that currently no Panther drivers for the 2496 are available. This seems curious, as the M-Audio home page states that drivers are available for all their most popular cards, adn Isurely thought the Delta 2496 would fit this description.

I'll check uout the site you mention, and if nothing works give tech support a try. Can't say I've had the best luck in the world when dealing with MOTU support...

Darkmatter,

There is now a driver for Panther for the AudioPhile 24/96, I just downloaded it myself. Of course, the old Jaguar driver worked fine for me to using DP4.

Yeah, I have the update installed -

Still getting the same error message, however....

I've been scouring other forums for some help on this, and can find nothing.

I was getting the same error when I was using Jaguar. Once I upgraded to Panther and installed the 4.11 DP4 update, it went away and everything is fine. Have you installed the DP4 4.11 update yet? If you just want to get around the problem, hit cancel when you get the hardware setup menu after the error message, it will switch to MIDI only, go to the setup menu and underneath audio system switch to DAE, then you may switch back to MAS after that. Not sure why it works that way, but it did for me. Now if I could only get my Radium to work with Panther.......

When I originally tried the solution posted on the MOTU site, I continued to have the same problem - thus, my post.

I have recently followed their suggestion (again) of trashing the preferences in the Library folder, and now things are better.

Not quite sure why this did not work the 1st go around... Perhaps with all the un/reinstalling I was doing to get things configured, I buggered things up good.

Anyway, things good (for now). Each day I seem to uncover an unpleasant artefact using DP 4.11 with Panther.

One guy in our french forums has found a problem in DP 4.11, see: this (french) thread

If you install it from scratch (without any previous version installed before) a core audio component is NOT installed as it should.

The missing file is: Library/Audio/Plugins/Mas/MasAudioUnit.SupportBundle

The fix seems to be to install the PREVIOUS version (DP 4.1 or 4.0) and THEN to update to DP 4.11

I dont know if it will help in your case, but it should certainly help others tongue.gif
