Whenever I use copy and paste to rearrange parts of an audio track, the audio playback pops at the beginning and end of the pasted section. Is there some way to prevent or eliminate this?

I am using Metro 5 on a iMac DVSE400, 256megs.

Yes, this is a stupid newbie question, but can anyone explain the use of midi channels. I understood the concept on a four track but I'm having trouble understanding how to use them with midi. I have a simple setup: cakewalk, QT music intruments (for now), an SR-16 drum machine, and some live audio tracks.

When I record midi tracks from my SR-16 drum machine to cakewalk, the drums gradually get out of synch with the bars in cakewalk. How do I get the two in synch so each bar of music is recorded accurately? Trying to adjust tempos never works.

Ok. So I can get midi data from my Alesis SR-16 drum machine to Cakewalk. I can see the track has midi events on it. But When I play it back there is no sound. I want to be able to edit the midi tracks in cakewalk and play them back through the drum machine. What am I missing?

HI. Is anyone successfully recording and sequencing with an iMac? I have a DVSE with 256 megs of RAM, a Midiport 32, Alesis SR-16 drum machine and a little keyboard controller. I have never been able to get the midi sequencing working. All I want to do is save drum tracks from the SR-16 into Cakewalk to edit them. Of course mixing multiple tracks would be awesome, but one thing at a time. Also when I record live audio, the tracks will only play back once and then they are greyed out and don't play back.

Any help or links would be appreciated. The literature on all this gear and software makes it sound so easy. I have been at this occasionally for like two years. It's the one thing I wish my mac could do. It is supposed to work. Aaargh!
