You might have heard that Emagic released Logic for Mac OS X
yesterday. And you might have heard that, under OS X, Logic will be
supporting Audio Unit plugins but not VST plugins. And then after
hearing that, you might have started wondering whether Destroy FX
plugins will be reborn as Audio Units. In order to avoid such needless
worry, we are writing a little message to you just to tell you that we
will be making Audio Unit versions of all of our plugins as soon as
possible.
And for those of you now worrying that maybe we won't make VST
versions anymore, we have message part 2: We will keep making VST
versions for Mac and Windows, at least for as long as it makes sense
(i.e Mac OS 9 will eventually be quite obsolete for musicians, and VST
plugins for OS X might not be necessary, but we shall wait and see).

are these guys cool or what? they sent me this email on the 3rd!
Yes they are. When my tiny studio begins it's life next year I will be running DestroyFX stuff and supporting their effort$$$$.
there are some other companies like them of course.
vstcentral lists them all, of course.
polyfractus, nullpointer, kuniox, ohmforce, etc etc.
i'd love to hear something reassuring from these, and other developers.
Did you saw the recent post of emagic, concerning their compatibility libraries, to port logic, vst or other effects to core audio (not sure, and i can't remember the url on the emagic website...)?
I'm also very attentive concerning plugin's future ports from os 9 to os X. I hope all companies will make a commercial "effort" to port the same plugin (ie, no new features) to the new mac os, at a reasonable price, if any.
OS 9 is dead, IMHO, i'll switch to jaguar as soon as Digital Performer and Pro Tools are here, and stable, of course. Maybe in 6 months?
Bye.
i did read that url, the information also comes as pdf's with the 5.3 release. when read carefully there's some VERY interesting news.
5.3 is much more compatible with 10.1.5 than 10.2, particularly on the basis that virtually all the osx audio drivers are yet to be updated for compatibility with 10.2!
also, the core audio sdk is not, of course, actually available yet.
vst ports for x seem to be coming fairly fast at the moment, and i'm yet to find one that requires payment. as usual though, it seems to be the biggest developers that are slowest off the blocks.
the digi situation seems to be the most worrying at the moment. these guys have always swum against the current to ensure huge capital gain, but i don't see them surviving too well without endorsing x.
i cant help worrying about those out there who have just paid out for an hd system, do i smell an upgrade in the air?
