Well, I have a powerbook 867 MHz with 512 Megs of Ram. You can do some stuff. But I've found it to be slow and cumbersome. Very limited tracks and effects.

Even something like garageband is rather pokey.

Garageband is a CPU hog, there should be some serious optimization in the code one day…

Af course you can, but be aware that you'll be limited on the front of plug-ins as the hungry ones will be to much for it. I'll add that it'll be way more interesting in OS 9 than OS X too (more power available, more responsive) now it's up to you to decide as it'll have to run on all obsolete software.

Note that if you use real hardware synths or samplers, you don't need them inside the computer wink.gif

Envision one day to upgrade the CPU too wink.gif it can make then a pretty computer in OS X for not much money.

Else, you need this ram, and at least 2 different hard drives.
