Not as good as previous release ... that was just a rack of audiounits.
and not free !
you could use Plogue/Bidule (to play instruments, and much more)
+ WireTap (to record the sound)... for free (at the moment).
and much more stable ! Bidule can also host VST instruments
and effects...

david, which release do you mean? If you mean the free version, there are many fixed in 1.0 but there where some problems in 1.0 but where fixed a few hours after release as 1.0.1 -1.0.3. there have been other fixes since then also making it very stable now, some even saying it is the most stable host they have used. So yes, as with many software releases, the 1.0 version had problems but this was dealt with very quickly. If you want to use bidule and wiretap to record stuff, that is fine but rax makes this and its other functions super easy. btw, you can record from within Bidule without having to use wiretap. you can do just about anything in bidule! - you just have to set it up correctly. This is a perfect example of why both exsist. power VS ease of use. 2 different markets or uses. i find i use rax for quick things and loading up synths for playing live. i use bidule if i want to get more deep and generate new sounds for composing.
