Logic Express doesn't support 5.1 mixing. You need Logic pro for surround features.
You will need an audio interface with at least 6 outputs. Hardest part is the monitoring system, I've been experimenting with my Sony home theater system it has a set of inputs that bypass the dolby surround circuit. Apps like Logic Pro or DP4 do not have encoders for Dolby surround, You will need DVD Studio Pro, or a standalone encoder. There are a few dedicated forums, Google surround audio. ![]() This post has been edited by gdoubleyou: Tue 6 Jul 2004, 18:52 -------------------- G-Dub

If Logic doesn't support it you might need some add. software, maybe from Dolby Lab or similar

Thank you for all your replies. They have been very helpful if only to convince me to think again about producing 5.1 surround sound scores.
I was intending to to buy the M-Audio Sonica Theatre, a reasonable set of 5.1 speakers and a dedicated AV amplifer but the price of Logic Pro compared with Logic Express (which with the exception of surround sound has everything I need) makes the surround sound project finacially unviable. Purchasing Nuendo would push the whole idea into another stratosphere again - money that would perhaps be better spent in other areas. I think I'll stick to stereo for the time being. Thanks again Michael |
