You hit a nerve and more! Don't stop posting because of this. Your question was reasonable, so go forward. Best of luck!

No MacvsPC debate please, I've seen enough ridiculous statements for today
Bob, your question is not a mac one… But it's my day of kindness… btw your wife must be in 10.3.3, 10.3.4 is still in beta right now If something slows her, it must be the swap of virtual memory, check that with Menumeters. Adding RAM can help too. -------------------- Our Classifeds • Nos petites annonces • Terms Of Service / Conditions d'Utilisation • Forum Rules / Règles des Forums • MacMusic.Org & SETI@Home

I would recommend Metro if they make it for PC (I'm not sure if the do or not). It is a wonderful, inexpensive sequencer. Whoever is running their business does a great job too...you can actually reach people and get answers to specific questions from the experts themselves. Most companies, reserve tech support for those that have already purchased and sometimes it can be tough getting a timely response. When I was shopping for sequencers, I e-mailed with several questions and got immediate and informative answers. They have three different versions from inexpensive, to ridiculously cheap - but of course you lose features as you go down in price. Still, it's nice to have options. Something to consider....

I'm just getting starting in the Mac world and so far I'm impressed. I've run PC's for years and am pretty knowledgable about them. You can do music on them, check out Cubase SE or a higher version, there's PC and Mac versions so it would be easy to make the switch. Cakewalk Home Studio is pretty popular for beginning users on PC. There's a lot of options and they do work well if you set them up right. I haven't been on my Mac long enough to really get to know it (I've had it 2 weeks), but so far I'd say that the Mac is set up better as a music platform, but it's certainly possible to do it on PC. Most hardware works on both platforms and a lot of software does too. There's lots of resources for learning about how to set up a PC for music.

The mercedes to chevy analogy was terrible. JK, learn to minimalize (even though I read most of your bullshit)...i'd rather you consolidate that into "mac music...pc not". Which we all know, and as you've iterated "this is a mac music forum." Thus...DEFINITELY people here already know.
Otherwise, good times. I just bought a 1.25 g4 powerbook...hoping to learn something from you guys. So far so good, thank you all for now. |
