Hi,
I'm a jazz saxophone player and computer programmer just starting to delve into computer music and related... What I'd really like to do is be able to write my own effects to process the sound from my sax mic in realtime. Can Logic apply effects to realtime inputs? is this what's called 'bouncing'? Or is there something else that can? Obviously latency is a big issue - I was thinking Powerbook G4/1ghz and FW410. Cheers, Bob |

Bounce - The process of moving a recorded signal from one track to another.
An "internal bounce" is one that moves the signal to a different track, or tracks, on the same tape machine. An "external bounce" is one that transfers the signal to a new track, or tracks, on a second machine. In some of the DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) that I work with there is a "bounce to disk" option for exporting the mix to an audio file. But I don't believe I have ever heard of the term "bouncing" used in the context of applying realtime effects. Anyone out there can prove me wrong though if they have heard differently. -------------------- Ableton Live 4.1

yes, in logic 6 you can put effects on the channel you are using to input your sax into logic and hear the effects in real time.
it is just a matter of assigning an effect plug-in on the channel, assigning an input and targeting the channel to record (clicking on the rec or R for that channel). happy recording, editbrain |
