I'm facing a problem for a while now and I can't find any solutions.
I have an Ibook G3/500-384RAM.
I work on Logic Audio, which works well with MIDI, but when it comes to audio...
It seems to be impossible to record any audiotrack, whatever soundcard I use: Mac AV, EMI 2/6, Mbox.
As soon as I push 'play-record', my whole computer freezes and I have to reboot it.
I've tried two different versions of Logic (4.7 and 4.7.3), I downloaded an 4.8.1 upgrade and nothing works.
When I installed the 4.7.3 version, it worked a few times until the computer bugged for using too much plugins and after that it was the same mess again.
You maybe interested to know that audiorecording on protools with an Mbox works...
I can't manage to find out the problem, I really need help on that one.
Thanks in advance.
Greg

Hey... I'm using a Powerbook G4 with an Mbox and Logic and having the same problem. I read somewhere that the Mbox and Logic works very well together with the 'propagamma ASIO driver'... not the Direct I/O driver. I have not tested this yet, and will hopefully receive that driver later on tonight. Pro Tools works wonderfully... but Logic does not seem to accept the Mbox for audio very well with Direct I/O. I'll let you know if this new driver works.

Yes, the 'Propagamma ASIO USB Driver' works great with the Mbox and Logic.

Hi Seth,
Thanks a lot for your help !!
I'm happy to hear that it works with 'propagamma ASIO USB driver'.
I always used the digidesign I/O in the ASIO settings, but I never heard of that before.
Do you have any idea of where I can find that ? I'd love to try it.
But I still wonder if this is the solutions, as my computer freezes even when I'm using the internal audiocard: Mac AV. Strange, isn't nit??

Hmm... I don't use the Mac AV driver setting in Logic. Now that the new ASIO driver is working, that is the only driver selected. You can get the driver at www.usb-audio.com. However, it will cost you about 57 US dollars... which at first I thought was a rip off, but when I realized how well it worked I didn't mind paying it. If you do get that driver, you will have to disable all of your digidesign drivers in your extensions folder and place the new driver in the ASIO folder in Logic along with the new USB driver in extensions folder. After that, just select the ASIO driver within Logic and setup the control panel, and you should be all set. Thats what I did and it worked great... hope it works the same for you! (no promises though... I'm mostly a newbie at this myself)

Good Luck
