I'm trying to burn AIFF files and create my first audio CD of my music. I have two issues:

---The music I'm burning to Verbatim CD-R and Memorex CD-RW don't play on our CD player. (The CDs do play back on the computer.)

---Memorex CD-R won't accept my music files. In the burning process I'm given an Error 7932 message.

I'm so frustrated !!!

What software are you using to burn with?

An other important question is the CD player, is it old ? Or a cheap one ?

Old ones can have troubles reading home recorded CD
A cheap one can be bad behaving. He can also have less flexibility to read CD (not silver ones for example)

Also what is the color of the recording side of the CDs ?

Best for audio (only because of the laser and the players that can't accept other colors) are silver.
Can't remember the colors normally accepted by the majority (NOT BLACK by the way) light yellow/green and blue always worked for me but computer player are not a reference(they accept cd to a really large extent, not the way cd players do)

Hope it helps…

Thanks Kabumbahchuck and Lepetitmartien:

I'm not sure what you mean by what software I'm using to burn. I am just using what's available on my iMac. The software I'm using to record is very basic Soundrecorder---- freeware off the Web. I haven't yet graduated to using the Cakewalk I bought.

The CD player is a cheapo, so that could be the issue. Also, didn't know about the color of the CD as being a factor. The Memorex CD-R that keeps getting the error message is silver, as is the CD-RW and Verbatim I've used.

So it shouldn't be the CDs…

Try to play on your Player CDs burned by someone else, maybe it's the player. (keep the same CD brands…)

I don't think the AIFF files can be the cause. Anyqay they're converted into files for audio CDs.

Attention, I've never used the software (I suppose it's apple's) to burn cds… so can't be sure, but normally it should be ok.

trial and errors is the way to go.

also note... CD-RW will not work on hardly any CD players with the few exceptions of some newer models that boast CD-R & CD-RW support. Another thing to keep in mind... the faster your burn a disc... more likely you will have problems with it in older cd players.... I use 2X-4X burning speed for audio CD's for that reason and it seems to help a little. If you see ads for companies that duplicate audio CD's... some advertise they burn at 1X for the ultimate readability.

since you don't know what software you are using to burn CD's... its hard to pin down your error but I suggest looking in prefs and trying to increase the memory buffer for the software which may help. Also, make sure that you are using the 'Audio' mode and not 'Data' mode for CD burning.

I forgot an other detail :

If it's available, use disk at once burnig fo audio, not track at once.

Some players don't like that either (I don't now for the software you are using, Toast supports both modes)
