I would like to connect my 867 G4 to an external D/A converter( and then into my stereo pre amp) and wonder what any of you would recomend for a card or Usb/firewire connect that would have digital output. Simple, clean signal transfer and a reasonable price are my major concerns. The use is for audiophile playback. Thanks for the help.

If you want something with digital outs and cheapish have a look at the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 (MSRP: $199.95 USD)
http://www.m-audio.com/products/m-audio/audiophile.php You can get it for $149 e.g. http://www.audiomidi.com/common/cfm/produc...?Product_ID=962 Is SPDIF ok for your digital out? |

Thanks for the response. I was actually looking at the M Audio Audiophile USB for volume control and Headphone Jack.. Do you think there is any signal loss by going with a USB device vrs. a sound card? Just out of curiosity, what do you think of the D/A converter in the 2496?

QUOTE (Speedwa @ Jul 31 2003, 18:39) Do you think this will suit my needs?http://www.audiomidi.com/common/cfm/product.cfm?Product_ID=1934 Will I lose any signal on the way to my D/A converter? If you just need digital out that should be fine. I'm a little confused... do you need D/A too? |

I was thinking of getting a Art DIo or some other audiophile D/A maybe with a tube.
