The Digidesign M Box is an excellent alternative. It also includes the latest version of Pro Tools LE 6. Unfortunately no firewire but thats definately not a downfall considering how affordable it is.

I got my fw-1884 and it works very good with Logic 6.3.2 and panther on my Powerbook 1,25.With the soft lcd you can see all controls operation.Preamp and converters are very good.I compare them to the digimax. lt very clear. tongue.gif

i've seen the unit the tascam you would diffently get value for money from this product !!!
down side is there is no Channel strip displays , so you can't see the dame signal . apart from that its awesome if you want the all in one solution i was going to get it but i want the channel strips and the control surface is not as good as the mackie universal thats for logic pro 6. but anywayz
i don't doubt this product go for its got good reviews and the ad/da converters and pre amps are all of good quality as i have read.
