I guess it's just that protools is not able to mount the library or something similar, did you check on the digidesign website ? Or on the Duc digidesign discussion list ? below you will find a list od the typical DAE error messages.
http://www.digidesign.com/diginews/2003/5-...3/tech_tip.html What you can try right away is just throwing away the Pro Tools preference and resart the computer sometimes the preferences get corrupted I have this problem very often with my mBox and PT LE under OSX. Hope it helps Pesji -------------------- |

I think I found your problem Are you on OSX ? If so remember that PT free is only working with OS 9 up to 9.2.
Further more you cannot use the OS 9 classic mode under OSX cause it's not a real OS9 Sorry here is the message from Digidesign web support Answer Details DAE error -228 when launching Pro Tools FREE. Pro Tools FREE is not compatible with Mac OS X (not even in Classic mode). ID:8105 Created:05/22/2002 If you want to use PT free you need to have Mac OS ) installed on a separate partition of your hard disk. If you have one of the new Mac machines which doesn't boot under OS9 it's over for PT free sorry Pesji -------------------- |

I have a new Powerbook 15" (bought in Jan. 2003) with boot up in OSX but also includes OS 9 Classic. I just have to re-boot in OS 9 and then I'm able ot use ProTools Free. I've recorded audio and used Kontakt with it without hassle.
Perhaps there are a new set of Macs that the ProTools tech department is referring to. |

Ithink they are talking about the new generation which includes only the Classic OS9 Emulation (not a real OS9) And for thoses ones PT free doesn't work.
Do you have a OS9 installed on a separate partition of your hard disk ? Pesji -------------------- |

I know that my HD isn't partitioned. But I'm not really sure how it uses the disk for booting into one or the other.
I just go to System Preferences/StartUp/Os9 Then restart. |
