When I was using Studio Vision Pro 4.5.1 on my G4 with Mac OS 9.0.4, everything was OK. When I upgraded to Mac OS 9.1 and played again my last song, it was horrible : it's like the MIDI events were sent out in a random way.... nothing on time, with the rythmn, etc...
If I reboot on another partition wjere I still have a copy of Mac =S 9.0.4, everything is back to normal. Does anyone has a clue... on how to make it work with OS 9.1 ? |

The memory disk cache may be set too high!
Try it at 128k... |

It wasn't that... it was the MIDI interface which driver needed some update.

Does anybody know what the best configuration for using SVP 4.5.1 with OS 9 or 9.1? Right now I am using SVP 4.2.2 with OS 8.6, but I would like to upgrade to 4.5.1 - any suggestions?

I use Studio Vision DSP V4.51 and recently migrated from OS 8.6 to 9.04. I might be able to help out if I know which configuration you are asking about.

Hi there,
Right now I am using Studio Vision Pro 4.2.2 with my Studio 4 MIDI interface, a pro tools/digidesign 888 interface, Sample Cell, and GigaStudio. The computer I am using is a Power Mac 9600 350 running Mac OS 8.6. Thanks for taking the time to respond... |

Sounds like a pretty good set up. I would probably leave well enough alone unless there is something specific I was looking for. If I was going to go to the trouble of upgrading I would probably switch to another product since Vision is no longer supported. Gibson will still supply auth codes if you were switching machines but I am not sure about software upgrades. You would have to write them and find out. If your new version is already licensed for you, then you might still need to apply the 'floppy enabler' fix since the new version of Vision won't launch under OS9 (this is not a Vision problem but rather an encryption program running under OS 9 that Vision and other programs use). Anyhow I recently migrated my Vision program to an iMac 400 OS9.04 from an iMac 333 OS8.6 without any real problems. While this is not exactly what you want to do, let me know if there's anything I can help with.
