After waiting for months for Apple/M-Audio to fix the audio degradation issues introduced by Jaguar (their only advice was to reinstall 10.1.3 !!!!) we finally have a kinda solution:

http://homepage.mac.com/anthonyvu/

You will be installing an older AppleOnboardAudio.kext file from Mac OS X 10.1.3 and i can report that not only did the workaround install ok, but it seems to have fixed my problems. In effect, i have followed M-Audio's advice of reinstalling 10.1.3 but without sacrificing Quartz Extreme and other Jag goodies.

happy xmas, no thanx apple/m-audio

Thanks much for this tip, BoomBoom. Hope it didn't wake anybody up over at Apple. You may have heard of them--they own Logic...

Is this my problem? I just bought an M-Audio Duo and can't get it to work properly. I'm using a driver that M-Audio claims works with their August prerelease of 10.2. My audio/midi setup won't let me access the input levels. or select anything but 16bit. and yes I have to crank up the gain on my preamps to get anything. Please advise.

Thanks,

-W

It's a problem IF you are using CubaseSX, no problems in Logic.

I read the post on Cubase.net that discovered the glitch.

I have a Delta 410, and it behaves with Logic and my video apps.

I refuse to be a beta tester for Steinberg, I wont upgrade until the promised 5.2 is released.

Went through much pain with Cubase5, until it was right.

I'm not using either Cubase or Logic, I'm waiting for my Live 2.0 to arrive. But that is beside the point.

The problem seems to be somewhere between Audio/Midi Setup and the M-Audio Driver. It will recognize the intreface but won't let me adjust any preferences. i.e. I have to crank up my preamps because i can't adjust the input levels in Audio/Midi Setup.

I'm not sure about the Duo, but when I installed the OSX Delta driver
In the Delta control panel the I/O was turned off.

Can you access the M-Audio control panel? Don't know much about USB audio.
