Has anyone got the same problem as me:

Whenever I quit ProTools m-powered v. 7.4.2prx92, Spotlight starts indexing from scratch again ... a process that takes several hours, using up most of the CPU!

my system: Leopard 10.5.3
MacPro Intel 2 x 2.66

... tis driving me nuts!

I didn't think that PT was Leopard compatible (at least officially) as of yet. I understand there is a new version that will be out soon for Leopard. This may explain what is happening.

Ah.....that would also possibly explain it.....our friends at digidesign would probably like to hear about your problem.

you could try opening Spotlight preferences (System preferences... ) and dragging all of your HD's to the privacy window. This should stop Spotlight from indexing them.

Just as a temporary thing until Digi fixes the beta.
