Just export in one of the more usual PCM formats (AIFF/WAV) and use iTunes to do the conversion for you (import into iTunes then select the track and go to Advanced > Export selection as MP3).

ineedhelp,

Which option did you purchase?:

"MP3 Option — Authorization Code or iLok Authorization?

Please Note: in the "Authorizing the MP3 Export Option" section of the MP3 Option Guide available below, it says the following: "The MP3 Export Option can be authorized using an Authorization Code or iLok License."

iLok authorization of MP3 Option is only available with MP3 Option installation with Pro Tools 7.3 and higher. All earlier versions of MP3 Option require an MP3 Option authorization code.

If you own an iLok USB hardware key (purchased separately) and are using Pro Tools 7.3 or higher, you can purchase the following from the DigiStore:
MP3 Option (iLok authorization Version for Pro Tools 7.3 and higher)

If you do not own an iLok USB key and Pro Tools 7.3 or higher, you would need to purchase the following from the DigiStore:
MP3 Option (Authorization Code Version for Pro Tools 5.0.1 and higher*)
*including Pro Tools 7.3 and 7.4"

If you purchased the version that REQUIRES the iLok USB key, then you'll need to purchase the iLok key. It is handy for storing multiple authorization keys for various applications/plug ins which require them. If, instead, you purchased the MP3 Option (Authorization Code), then you do not need the iLok key.

Make sure you reference the MP3 Option Guide for more information.

From what you describe as your primary issue, it would appear you bought the wrong iteration of the Authorization codec. Perhaps you can swap it out with Digidesign if you contact them directly.

peace

You should have got an iLok key already with your keys to ProTools and whatever Plug-ins you may have purchased.
Just add the MP3 license onto it. One way or another, you will need an iLok key at some stage when you start working
seriously. Even demo try-outs of Plug-ins etc need an iLok to put temporary licenses onto.

really?? well thats news to me i bought my unit from some guy and even though he assured me it was brand new (it was sealed) and had all the CDs there was no ilok key..

anyway digidesign are refunding my money and i have told me how to get the verson where i dont need an ilok key

or so i think...

ill keep you posted
