Hi all,

I wanted (had a look in search didn't find anything) to know what (if any) free MS decoders are out there (MAC PTLE 7.3.1)

I had a WAVES trial for a year last year of all there goodies. There is a decoder in there but I don't think I could buy that on it's own.

Apart from that I know on nothing else.

Any info. will be greatly appreciated!

Lee

Me again!

If you record in the MS signal as mono tracks, this is simply a matter of making a copy of the S track, panning the resulting track to the opposite side of the original and flipping it's phase. The simplest route for phase inversion on PTLE is to insert a low-powered DigiRack plug-in (such as 1-band EQ) and using the included phase switch.

Hi again Jim!

I'm glad that I'm being followed by you biggrin.gif

I already recorded the tracks in stereo, I'll split them into Mono then faze the appropriate channel.

Thanks very much for your help.

Best,
Lee

Hi> I'm a new mew member.
Just saw this post.
The problem with that is you end up with 3 tracks in your project instead of just one.
I do film mixing with many tracks and the last thing I want is unneccesary tracks.
Just moved from Pro Tools TDM to Nuendo and amazed to find no on board MS decoder.
Any suggestions of good MS plug ins for Mac

Yes - I don't mind the three tracks as the MS recordings are also dialogue based as well as Atmos blabla.

You can get a free download of:

You only need three tracks if you want to alter the balance between the centre image and the left and right signals (which is what M & S is all about, right?).

Once you're happy with the balance these can be bounced to a stereo file as usual.
