Wiff,
They have been saying that for months, I can't remeber what fourm or who said it but it was said that "you can't really trust a release date untell you see it on the shelve. I have been more then patiant with them. I can easly sell my 2408mkII and get a delta 1010. The only problem is. I have used and fallen in love with DP. I mean I don't have the money for protools TDM, and DP is so similar it's scary. But I need something now. My G4 came with both OS9 and OSX and I was more then fine using 9 but I got OS10.2 and I really don't want to ever use 9 again. with my 800MHZ G4 with 640ram running OS 9.2, can not reach the level of performence of my G3 iBook running at 600MHZ and 265 ram and OS 10.2. now that really says something for jag. All my Graphic apps are OSX ready, I just what my audio too.

Synthetik - has Jaguar really improved performance on your iBook that much? It sounds like we're running the same apps on the same Mac (the iBook) and I've been thinking about getting Jaguar, but haven't heard field reports from anyone using it on a daily basis so far.

I had only just aquired OSX 10.2 about a month ago. I have a dual gig G4 (1 gig of ram) running Logic with a MOTU 2408 mkII on OS9, so I recently attempted to install OSX 10.2 on a separate partition on my main HD.

Unfortunately for me, the OSX installer refused to continue with the installation, locking up the machine just before you get to insert the second installer disk. I tried everything, making the HD the master (it was the slave, I thought that would solve my problem), removing some memory (I found some info on a site that stated you had to have your memory in the slot furthest from the processor, and that OSX is very fussy when it comes to the 'brand' of memory in a G4), etc etc.

3 hours later, no luck. I still have a blank partition on the drive reserved for "road testing" OSX Logic. And still no drivers from MOTU...come on guys!

However, I am extremely happy with my system on OS9, but I am eager to begin the crusade into OSX territory. I feel my dual gig machine will give up more of it's 2nd processor's steam under X.

Anyone had any similar installation problems with Jag?

PS: It will be a while I reckon before audio software stabilises on OSX. Logic 5.4 looks good on Jag...however, I will not be jumping into this pool headfirst, it would be insane for me to leave OS9 behind right now, considering how fat with plugs/apps my HD is currently...

cool.gif

I feel like I only just got my audio apps/plugs as I originally imagined them on OS9 recently! And I want to get more out of it creatively before I have to sit there forever looking at installers, debugging, distracted from making music with my computer!

blink.gif

I'm treading carefully.

My story is pretty similar to yours. I have a dual 1 gig with 1 gig of Ram. Im running cubase, peak, recycle, reason and tons of vst's including waves gold bndle etc...OS9 with a MOTU2408mkII. I installed OSX the first day I got my machine about 8 months ago. I quickly realized I was going to be pulling my hair out if i tried to run both OS's After reinstalling several times I wiped OSX and have been running only OS9 since. I'd love to give OSX a shot again when i can run only OSX but.....no MOTU drivers (come on guys), and its going to really hurt getting all my software/soft synths etc up to speed.

Yep. Frustrating performance, MOTU.

I own a 2408MkII also. Where is the support?! Jeeeeez.

Hi Gaba. I installed Jaguar on a separate hd partition, all by itself. Like yourself, no way will I allow it to reside on my OS9 boot drive...

Yeah I installed OSX the other day on a completely seperate drive. Don't have jaguar yet. Is there much of a difference?

it's like night and day, my friend. to me, on my tibook 667, going from 10.1 to 10.2 was almost as dramatic as going from system 6 to system 7. you will not regret it.

cheers.
