Hi guys , I am getting really sad in music, cause I haven't been able to find a good card to use with my G5 dual 1.8

in my old G4 I used a M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 and it worked just fine , I was a happy man with it smile.gif , but my G4 got toasted angry.gif , So I bought the G5 , and It was not compatible with the 24/96 so I thought , " Hey I will try Audiophile 192! "

After several MONTHS, thinking it was a DRiver issue... until I recieved this notice ( This notice was published in August 2 , and I bought the card in January... no money refund, no nothing , they recomend me to use a firewire or USB device )

Notice Link : http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=suppor...8ae0c17b1a4cb48

So I though " DAMN! , I HAVE BAD LUCK " , I thought I was not going to regret on this one , so I bought a firewire 410 Interface from M-Audio too, my advice , DONT BUY THAT INTERFACE , at least with Tiger 10.4.2 The drivers are HORRIBLE, sound drops , and many stuff that really really sux! BAD BAD BAD! , so I sold it

Now I am thinking On what to buy

I have checked the forums , and there was all this coments about the fireBox, but I have read that not all the features are working and still a big % of people is having problems...

The MBox , Most ppl just use it to use protools but they say its not really very good ...

I thought in Mbox 2 but no reviews of that ...

I am beginning to think that if I want to make some audio in my mac , I will really have to spend more money and buy something that goes really beyond my needs to make things work...

I have been looking at the MOTU Traveler... I have heard it has really nice OSX integration , and it works perfectly Fine. ( it costs like 850 Bucks! )

I play keyboard and piano , Have two synths , but if I am going to use that interface , I would like to record my 3 synths in stereo mode ( 2 inputs each ) , to use it a bit more, maybe Ill record some voices too ...

Any ideas ? Suggestions ? Reviews ?? Etc,

My system details are

PowerMac G5 dual 1.8 Ghz ( the 4 ram slots model ) ,
1.25 GB Ram
80 GB SATA drive
Mac OS X 10.4.2

I say sorry to you guys for another of this posts, but I am really sad , because not being able to record has started me to get VERY frustrated and I am playing less and less angry.gif

please help me! smile.gif

If you don't need 4 mic pres and firewire bus power check out the motu 828 mk II. It's cheaper than the traveler and its OSX compatability is very solid!

As far as I can tell, there aren't any complaints about the mackie stuff. I have an Onyx 1220 mixer with firewire card & like it. The Spike sounds like it would pretty cool too & much cheaper. The stuff is very functional and compatible with just about everything out there.

The problems with MOTU are usually hardware related (some 828 s…k, sometimes a rack goes dumb, nothing the support can't repair/exchange) or MOTU related (like upgrade policy or service durations), not driver related. cool.gif
