I'm sick of trying to make OMS work with my Midisport 2x2. Is it true that you can set up Logic to recognize and communicate with external devices without using OMS? If some kind and patient soul could walk me through that I would really appreciate it. Here's what I'm working with:
- Mac G4 - OS 9.2 - Midisport 2x2 - Alesis QS7 (to be used as a midi controller and external synth) - roland JV 1080 (to be used as external synth only) - Logic 4.8.1 P.S: If anyone is interested in my sob story of how OMS doesn't like me, I would love to share and get input, but I've basically given up on it. |

Have you found out the best suicide method or have you some time to try a few things ?
Read this http://www.macmusic.org/agora/forums/index...1569a3c&lang=FR And try the same basic method, in case retry. Else, Logic has its own midi system, but a logic user would be of better use than me (read : NO OMS! yeah) wade into the manual, set up the environement etc. It's already somewhere on the site, but I can't remember where, in which language… oops… -------------------- Our Classifeds • Nos petites annonces • Terms Of Service / Conditions d'Utilisation • Forum Rules / Règles des Forums • MacMusic.Org & SETI@Home

Eureka!! I didn't figure Logic out, but I got OMS to work by (surprise surprise) trashing all my midi stuff and reinstalling from scratch...again!
So, my advice to all you frustrated OMS users is try and try again. Thanks so much for your help! |

Hi joyfulsong,
Unfortunately, you won't be able to get the Midisport 2x2 to work without OMS under OS 9. Logic's own built in MIDI drivers support their own interfaces (Unitor8, AMT8 and MT4) and will also work in MTP mode with a serial interface. So if you want to get rid of OMS buy an MT4 (Emagic's cheapest MIDI interface). Matt |

When you open Logic choose a MIDI instrument in the arrange page.
You can select the Midisport output from the instrument parameter box on the left of the page beneath the toolbox. You select it from between "Icon" and "Port" (it may say OMS unassigned). If you can play your keyboard and hear your roland JV-1080 (make sure you select the output port of JV-1080) then OMS is working with logic. Now you have the joys of setting up your environment. That's another chapter! Read the manual about environments to get a basic understanding (especially Multi Instruments). You can download environments for your synths from http://www.swiftkick.com/ Matt |

i am having the same damn problem setting up oms to work with a MT4 and a Korg Oasys.
My problem is only part solved but have you got the latest version of OMS from their web site. As this made a dramatic difference to me. The Older driver was not having a bar of my G4 with OS 9.2.2. Wildcard!!! |
