Although I don't have DP 4.5 I know with 4.12 that there is no import audio function. You simply drag the file onto an audio track in the tracks window. If it doesn't work dragging it to a mono track then try dragging to a stereo track.
Hope it helps.

I just tried it and it worked.
Make sure you are dragging it to a stereo audio track in the tracks window. You will see a rectangular box that represents the mp3 once it detects the stereo track in the window. The rectangular box will be the actual length in measures of the mp3 file. Drag it to the begining(measure 1) and then let it go. A window should pop-up showing the status while DP is importing the file. It takes a few seconds to process then the waveform of the mp3 will appear on that stereo track in the tracks window. Make sure the fader level is up for that track in the mix window and then press play. If you still have difficulty you can e-mail me directly at sfbcreative@yahoo.com or call 912-764-2404 I live in GA, USA so not sure where you are but there may be a time difference.
Good Luck

Hello Essentia,

To import an audio file into DP 4.5 it is best to use the SOUNDBITES window. Using this window one can import .aiff, .SDII, .WAV or .mp3 files.

1.) Open a session in DP 4.5.
2.) Load a new (empty) track that is the same as the track you wish to load. (mono or stereo - 16 or
24 bit)
3.) Go to the PROJECT pull down window up top.
4.) Find SOUNDBITES and click on it.
5.) The SOUNDBITES window will appear. Go to the menue in the upper left of the SOUNDBITES
window and find IMPORT AUDIO.
6.) Click on IMPORT AUDIO and a dialog will appear. Find the audio file you wish to import and click
OPEN.
7.) This will result in the audio file appearing in the SOUNDBITES list.
8.) Using the icon on the far left of the title, drag the sound file to the open track you loaded in #2.
9.) Edit and loop your brains out.

Hope this helps,
