Re: Stuck notes on Harp. Check to see how much dead air is living at the end of every individual sample clip. If you use a EXS24 this should be easy. But if you're using a package that comes with its own front end (like the NI one for the VSO) you might not be able to edit the separate sample clips. I recently got the first 'drumkit from hell' library and found I had to edit every sample clip to get the drums tight. There was up to 500 samples @ 44.1kh dead air at the begining of each drum hit, and some 2 seconds dead air at the end. The first is critical for timing and the latter for polyphony. Snare rolls can still jam the EXS24 up unless I use over 32 voices. If you own any of these new huge orch. libraries beware you might not be able to improve this situation because of the dedicated and exclusive sampler interface. Cheers Robbo2004

Anyone using one of the new iMac G5s with GPO? Someone perhaps braver than I but hopefully happy with their purchase.

A update to GPO & the Kontakt player will be be posted at Native Instruments on Monday 10/18/04. Many changes and fixes for both and maybe a little more Mac friendly.

The GPO Update has created crackle noise problems for several people with non DP G5 Powermacs. I have a 933 iMac g4 & a FW extenal HD and had problems after six instruments and a string section. I can't open the session now because it crashes Metro. And this is without any effects. It's not looking good. Poor Mac support. It's time move on.

I just ordered Sampletank XL 2 with a free Symphony Strings expansion tank. I don't think it's as good as GPO for orchestral samples and realism but it has a lot of great features and good Mac support. It has a future with the Mac. I'm not so sure about GPO but i'll hang on to it and see what happens.

I found out that the problem of power requirements started with the move from Jaguar to Panther. CPU usage increased 300%! So if you can and want to run in Jaguar(10.2x) then no problem. I can't so i'll cry instead. sad.gif
