There's an unsigned band in Illinois named Avidus.

I helped them lay down a bunch of tracks.

The lead singer is a really impressive lyricist.

Check them out

I´m listening to The Postal Service - Such Great Heights. It´s a band I´d never heard of until my brother shoved them into my computer, and they are great!

A blend of low-key electronic music that sounds vaguely like my fellow Icelanders Múm and british indie-style vocals. Human and electronic at the same time.

Check it out.

2 minutes before I saw this post iTunes started playing "Orange" by The Art of Trance.

By the time I finished reading everybodys posts it had started "Vicious Circles" by Poltergeist (Union Jack remix).

Both of these tracks are from Platipus Records "Ultimate Dream Collection"

By the way Jaysee I like that particular Jan Hammer album alot. But check out the performance of "Earth in Search of a Sun" from the Live Jeff Beck album (name escapes me now) when Hammer toured with him it's great!

Thanks Living Clash. This is interesting. I've listened to all the suggested songs except some that itunes shop doesn't sell.

I'd forgotten I liked Jeff Beck smile.gif

In looking I found others I didn't know or had forgotten

Listening to Monk/The Shepherd by Bobby MacFerrin on the Beyond Words Album. I'm a real fan of Bobby MacFerrin (scat) although this isn't the most interesting song.

Oops its switched to Sarah Bettens Radio at 128kb/s Always the same singer/guitar but its pleasant from time to time.

Oh, its just short clips of songs at the moment. Zap.

Now Messe à Quatre Choeurs by Charpentier - Ex Cathedra Choir. Very good recording. I've sung it in concert but a quite boring to listen to (I've now deselected it).

Now its gone back to Bobby MacFerrin - El Brujo on the Voice album. You probably know Blackbird (Beatles song) - just his voice - live concert. If you don't know it, and like the voice an an instrument, check out The Voice album.

Flamenco now - yeah

korektphool, Living Clash;

I too love Black Hole Sun. I have to tell you one of the best cover tunes I have ever heard is Black Hole Sun being done by none other than Steve Lawrence & Edie Gorme.

I kid you not they did it straight & with serious respect (not like Pat Boone covering Ozzy & Sabbath). It's on a various artists collection called "Lounge-A-Palooza".

You really should check it out.

By the way at the moment I'm listening to "Long Walk Back to San Antone" by Junior Brown, a guy with a great baritone voice who plays a custom instrument he calls a guit steel, which is a double necked combination of a lap steel & guitar. He plays everything from Dick Dale & the Ventures to Johnny Cash & Jimmy Hendrix, not to mention his own often tounge in cheek traditional country tunes. smile.gif
