So I just upgraded my G4 AGP 400 again from a Sonnet 800 card to a Powerlogix dual 1.2 based on the 7447 chip. I had originally ordered a dual 1.0 G4 based on the 7455 chip but it was backordered and I needed something quickly as I am in the middle of mixing a project for which I needed more power. The dual 1.0 upgrade had a 256k L2 cache and a 2MB L3 cache. The 1.2 that I ended up getting has a 512k L2 cache and no L3 cache. My question is this: would the dual 1.0 have given me significantly more power in Logic Pro due to the L3 cache than the dual 1.2 I am currently using. I am under the impression that the L3 cache can do a bit to alleviate the bottleneck of the 100mHz system bus on my G4 but is it something that i will really notice a difference in? I have a 30 day money back guarantee on this card and I am wondering if I should get the dual 1.0 that I originally wanted when it comes in. Thanks to anyone who has any insight into this matter.
