I regularly use Pro Tools LE on OSX with a Digi002. However, I will shortly be away from my home studio setup for up to three months, and was thinking of taking just my Powerbook without any hardware and continue with some projects whilst I am away.

Since Pro Tools will not run without dedicated hardware, I am interested in other 'robust' standalone solutions such as Logic Express because I could then keep working with all the basic functionality of a pro-application.

Will there be a demo of Logic Express I can try, before forking out 300 bucks for a 'second' audio sequencer package (especially since I only want to use it for a few months). I'm not sure if Logic have ever offered demos?

Ideally, what I would have liked is for Digi to allow some sort of dongle (ilok)-enabled version of Pro Tools which I can use when not connected to my 002? But I understand that they have no intention to release this.

Some people have suggested buying an MBox, but since I already own a 002, I would rather not buy additional hardware when all I want to do is try different arrangements / audio editing offline....

Oh well....Hope someone can help with my question which is basically "Has logic ever had a demo or tryout version and will this be the case for Version 7"?
