Set up:

eMac 700mHz, OsX.2.8, 768 Ram
Edirol USB Audio interface

This is the process.

*I plug in the USB Audio interface. This interface ONLY works at 48kHz in OsX
*In System Preferences, I click on Sound and in the Sound Effects, Output and Input options I choose my USB Audio device.
*In Audio/Midi Set up I choose the Input/Output settings and I choose 2 Channel 48kHz 2 channels 16 bit options.
*I then open all my Audio apps and choose the Edirol USB device as the sound input and output.

Here is where my problems begin. Intuem and Rax, for example all of a sudden forget the settings and go back to 44.1khz sampling frequency. I then go to try and open the Audio/Midi set up and it just won't load!!! The opening screen of "Scanning for Audio Devices" just goes on forever!

I quit all my Audio apps, have to unplug the Edirol USB and go thru the process all over again, sometimes I repair permissions and still same thing happens.

And sometimes I turn off the computer and restart to see if that helps but the Audio/Midi just won't load!

Please help me, since this is the second USB Audio interface that I've bought and none of them has worked, the other was was the iMic and had very similar problems, I blamed it on the iMic and went on and got the Edirol...
