Optical Rec With Motu 828mk2 Options

Hello

I have just acquired the 828 mk2 that i consider to be a great soundcard
But there are 2 points for which problems occured-
1* i try to record via the in optical toslink from my akai s6000 optical out
in order to have a direct and raw sound
samplitude is my recording software
no signal or sound is OR can be detected or recorded ?

2* i have serious interferences coming from my 828 mk2,
is this due to the fact that the sound card is place right underneath my akai s6000, and maybe it deserves a better
location in order to prevent such harrasement?

my pc SET includes
Intel 4 3 mghz+Asus p4p800 deluxe+1 gig of ram + 2 x 120 gig hard disks
