I got to buy some monitors, but I don't know which ones.
I already seen some good criticals about that propduct what u think about that ?

For information, I got a Powerbook 15 1,25 alu and a Digi002Rack with ProTools LE system.

My music style is something like progressiv rock.

Thanks in advance. blink.gif

re your asking "Are Tapco S8's any good?"....well I certainly hope so, coz I'm expecting delivery of a pair of their smaller brother, the S5's at any moment! Tapco is very closely connected with mackie, which make pretty damned fine mixers for a start, so I've high expectations of these S5's (also for a neat little tapco 6 ch mixer I bought for silly money {under £70.00!}

I nearly went for the larger S8's but was a little put off by the advertising of them as something like "the *loudest* nearfield montors you can buy!" which seemed an odd claim, the words 'loud' and 'near' uttered in the same breath was enough to put me off for personal reasons I'll explain later. Anyway I want to keep on good terms with my elderly neighbours so I went for the 5's. A review I read said the 5's have a good bass end for their size but might suit a musician who prefers his monitoring a little quieter

I dont want to emerge wild eyed from each session ears a ringin', exhausted from trying to maintain that frisson of decibel driven excitement you get at a live gig or clubbing or anything else LOUD!!! Well maybe not pneumatic drilling outside your house, or being an apprentce blacksmith for a day... but it really is tiring after a few hours with no teabreak of trying to make discerning decisions about a mix, you just cant hear it anymore! I dont mean coz your deafened, (altough that *can* happen, read on.) but your ears and nervous sysytem just cant stand it at those levels hour after hour, it wears your brain to a frazzle aftera while.

I've suffered from tinnitus ('ringing in the ears)24 hours a dayy, every day, week in week oui since around '76, as my reward for a youth spent blasting away in very loud rock bands, not from choice but becausde our guitarist was a decibel junkie. now in his early50s he's a bit hard of hearing but not a trace of my permanent ear ringing symptom...ironic init? Its been known about for centuries, the ancient greeks termed it 'noises from within'. ('sounds more like flatulence or indigestion to me:-)I once read that the classical composer Smetna found his tinnitus so distressing that he wrote a part for it in a piece consisting of the offending very high pitched note ringing in his ears sustained throughout the piece, to give the listener just a taste of the strain he was under trying to block out the infernal din so he could compose. So you dont have to play in motorhead to incur the wrath of the tinnitus demon! It's HORRIBLE you dont want it. I remember watching a live TV gig by the Who a few years ago, Pete Townsend was literally encased in a transparentplexiglass cube or 'box', cut off from the band in an attempt to protect his hearing and avoid exaccerbating his tinnitus... My pain tolerance of loud sounds is very low, I once literally*fainted* while standing in line at a bus stop(seriously!) WHEN A BUS SCREECHED ITS SHRIEKING AIR BRAKES STOPPING TO LET ME GET ON!
Anyway that explains my rather biased decision against buying the tapco S8's,'the loudest monitors in the known universe!'
Seriously though if you intend writing prog rock kinda music then maybe you'll want a bit more welly than the S5s can produce. I'm sure the S8s will sound sound great! good luck with your choices, Jaysee.
