I just got Digital Performer 4.12(with no manual) that I am using with mac os x on a 400mghz 512 mb G3. I tried recording some audio and found that the signal is getting through to make the track just fine, but i can not preview or monitor the take simply by arming the track. This is bizarre for me. How do you set the rec levels in DP4? How do you monitor what is being recorded? This doesn't seem to be standard at all, but perhaps my set up is wrong somewhere? How can I just hear an instrument in DP4? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well, I am using midi and some samples, but the reference here is live instrumentation, such as guitar or vocals. Basically, I am trying to simply replace outboard DAW's with DP4. I can record by monitoring from my mixer alone, adn I tried increasing the buffer size. I still don't really get the input thing with the audio software. I am used to having a sens knob somewhere, as opposed to simply adjusting from the source. As far as MIDI: I really don't want to use MIDI in DP4, but that's where I am running into another problem: I want to use two different computers, and I have to figure out how to trigger my old Mac with the G3(DP4). Any ideas on how this is achieved? If anyone has the manual for DP4, maybe you could look that one up for me? I am trying to find a manual to purchase, I bought a book, but it sucks!
