There is absolutely nothing more I know how to do....... Are there any particular settings I should have my computer on? Got a Powerbook G4:550 MHz:512 MB SDRAM..........

You can try two things at least.

1) Check if you got the latest drivers from Digidesign for the M-Box.

2) Your internal hard-drive may be too slow, try to borrow an external firewre-based hd.
Without the 911-Oxford chipset and with and 7200 rpm hd-drive
Try to record audio to the external fw-drive and see what happens.

B.t.w:
If you connect the M-Box to your PB-G4 via an external USB-hub - bypass the USB-hub.
Connect the M-Box directly to one usb-port on the computer.
