Hey everyone! I am a recent Mac convert, and this site is helping A LOT!
I have a new 17'' G4 Powerbook, couple months old. It has Jaguar 10.2.7, but came with the Panther discs. Being new to Mac, I decided to hold off on installing Panther. I am ready to start putting my mobile studio together, so now I am wondering is it worth it, or to just stay with Jaguar? I know the practical differences between the two systems, but I am asking from a Recording Musician's stand point. Is it a huge difference, a little difference, better or worse???? BTW, I have decided to go with the MOTU 828mkII, couple BlueTube mic pre's, Soundtrack and Audiodesk (for now), and T-Racks for mastering. Any opinions on what's the best Audio Editor ala SoundForge? Thanks for any help; sorry for such a LONG first post! JAMES |

I was hoping someone would reply...
Thanks lushbudget! The 17'' P.Book is indeed very sweet, although you do pay for it. This whole Win-to-Mac conversion is costing A LOT of money! It is not very portable, also. Big and heavy. Since it will be on my desk most of the time, it's ok. But if I ever get in a situation where I'm lugging it around a lot, then I may wish I had gotten the 15''.... I'm thinking I am going to upgrade to Panther. MOTU has an update for it, and SoundTrack's ok, so I should be good. Thanks again, if I have any quick questons I'll drop you a line! JAMES |
