sounds like a problem relating to the install or system software to me...

-make sure "virtual memory" is not on in control panels (I actually have a set of base extensions I use when working with my music apps to avoid conflicts with extensions not needed and to save cpu cycles)
-make sure that oms is installed if in OS9
-try trashing Digidesign prefs and rebooting
-might want to reinstall if nothing else helps
