Hey everyone!, I have a quick question and would like some serious advice.
I currently own a Powerbook G4 667, with 1gb ram. I plan on adding a firewire HD + firewire interface to it for recording. Now heres the problem, I would like to know what the 'specs' or 'audio specs' this system can push through. I'm not looking for CRAZY intensity, but I would need a decent system. I could trade this for a single 1ghz G4 powermac. Then I would have to get a pci card, more ram, a seperate hd, and etc. I just would like to know what you guys think, and what could be done with a laptop such as mine, I would be using Logic Platinum. Thanks so much, advice would be required soon, since people are requesting my laptop, but I am contemplating on whether I should keep it, or get rid of it... it's a great machine, but will it be able to handle? Most of the things I would be doing would be hip-hop producing, and recording bands of 4 (drums, bass, guitar, mics) Thanks soo much! |

I think laptop you have will work fine for what you want to do... however... consider this... are you a plugin junkie? do you use lots of fx and or soft synths and samplers too? if so, then you might want to upgrade while you have a chance. The new soft synths such as the Moog Modular VST one would have trouble running on your laptop to full potential. I read this in recent music mag. So... looking at trends... the new software that comes out will be more demanding as well... but here is another idea...
if you are more concerned with audio recording and you use fx sparingly and some of the less demanding older soft synth snd samps instead of new power hunger ones... then you will be ok This post has been edited by Synthetic: Wed 1 Oct 2003, 03:59 -------------------- ----------------------------------------
