Hello,

I have a standard G4 400.

I was just wondering if it is possible to record the output of the sound card at a software level (without connecting the soundcard output to the sound card input).

e.g. If I have something like a game running I wan't to record the sounds at a software level (because if I connect my soundcard output to the input I have no place to connect my stereo amplifier).

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

hello foccaciaman (nice name),

i don't know pro tools, i tried the free version when it came out when i didn't have a solid audio sequencer yet. i wasn't about to learn the interface and i didn't like the limitations of it and its sibling, pro tools le (which comes with the digi oo1).

i had a look on google for rewire and pro tools le. rewire is something i've heard about being used with reason and rebirth (plus a few others) that allows you to route the outputs of the programs into a sequencer or multi-tracking program. it doesn't look like pro tools le supports this (i could be wrong, i only glanced around) but i did findthis page http://www.sospubs.co.uk/sos/apr01/article...ools.asp....but this page seems to show it can be done another way.

i encourage you to do the same (use a search engine). it looks the page explains pretty well what you have to do to be able to record in your case, reason, inside pro tools le. the paragraph is in the lower half of the page and has the header OMS, Software Synths & Direct Connect.

i don't know about aiff writter, i gave you all the advice i know about using it. take it from there smile.gif

best.
