I am wondering if there is a update or hack that will allow DP4 to use Digi 001. If so where can I get it it? If not when will exist?
Thanx |

OK, guys, here's the deal. I found this on the DP4 Features page on the MOTU site (Notice the bold text at the bottom next to "Support for Pro Tools|HD" under "DP Version 4 features that are on the way"):
- - - - - - Digital Performer 4.0 feature summary • Freeze Tracks feature - temporarily “print” virtual instrument tracks - or disk tracks with a heavy real-time plug-in processing - to relinquish your computer’s precious CPU resources. Unfreeze the original track to easily make changes at any time, and then refreeze as needed to continue adding more tracks. Freeze tracks gives you potentially unlimited bandwidth for plug-ins and virtual instruments. • Mac OS X support - run Digital Performer on the world's most advanced computer operating system. • Support for CoreAudio - Digital Performer 4.0 takes full advantage of Mac OS X's audio services, providing universal compatibility and interoperability with Mac OS X and all CoreAudio-compatible software and hardware. No more worries about compatibility or special drivers or wrappers. Just install your software, plug in your hardware, and go. • Support for multiple CoreAudio drivers - operate multiple audio hardware products simultaneously with Digital Performer. For example, you can use your MOTU 828 FireWire audio interface together with your MOTU 2408mk3 PCI audio interface - or use any combination of CoreAudio-compatible interfaces. • Support for CoreMIDI - say good-bye to OMS and FreeMIDI. Digital Performer 4.0 takes full advantage of Mac OS X's MIDI services, providing universal compatibility and interoperability with OS X and all CoreMIDI-compatible software and hardware. • Mac OS X built-in synthesizer support - Play music right away with no MIDI instruments or third-party virtual instrument products. • Support for Mac OS X's Audio MIDI Setup utility - Enjoy universal MIDI system management. Digital Performer 4. 0 shares a common studio setup with all of your Mac OS X MIDI applications. • Easy device remapping from FreeMIDI to CoreMIDI - When you open a project created in an earlier version of Digital Performer, you can easily remap your old FreeMIDI devices to the new devices in your Audio MIDI Setup configuration. • Support for Mac OS X's MIDI device patch lists and drum note names - view the sounds in your MIDI synthesizers by name in Digital Performer's patch lists. Build drum kits with instrument names like "808 kick" and "sizzling hat" rather than "C#1" and "D-0". All of FreeMIDI's hundreds of patch lists have been ported to Mac OS X, where they can by used by any CoreMIDI-compatible software. • Support for interapplication MIDI - Digital Performer can publish an unlimited number of MIDI inputs and outputs, allowing it to transmit and receive a virtually unlimited number of MIDI data streams to and from other CoreMIDI-compatible software. • Support for Mac OS X's MIDI Time Stamping - Achieve a 12th of a millisecond MIDI timing accuracy on input and a 3rd of a millisecond on output with Mac OS X's MIDI Time Stamping features and a MOTU rack-mount MIDI interface (or any CoreMIDI-compatible interface that supports time stamping). • Enhanced menu organization - enjoy greater ease of use and faster operation. For example, all project-related commands, such as adding tracks, are now consolidated into the Project menu. • ReWire 2.0 support - Enjoy 100% compatibility and interoperability with Propellerhead Reason™ 2.0, Rebirth™ and all other Rewire applications. Includes direct MIDI I/O support, which allows you to sequence MIDI tracks in Digital Performer and use Reason (or other ReWire instruments) as virtual sound modules. • Enhanced QuickScribe notation transcription engine - display and print unquantized MIDI tracks as beautifully engraved music scores, instrument parts and lead sheets. • QuickScribe Arrangement palette - provides repeat barlines, endings, codas, del segno and many other symbols that are used to create a consolidated score or lead sheet. Use the new "Hide" command to consolidate repeated sections between repeat barlines. Watch the playback cursor as it follows repeats, jumps to endings and codas, and generally follows the flow of your condensed score. • 'Display-only' and 'playback-only' notes - fine-tune the appearance of your score for printing, without affecting how it plays back. Or change the way your score plays back without affecting the notation transcription. Digital Performer Version 4 features that are on the way - to be supplied as a free update soon: • Support for Audio Units plug-ins - A future free update of Digital Performer 4 will support Audio Units (AU) plug-ins. Run any AU-compatible plug-in in your Digital Performer projects. Enjoy universal plug-in and virtual instrument compatibility and interoperability. • Support for Pro Tools|HD and TDM - A future free update of Digital Performer 4 will provide support for Pro Tools hardware running under the Digidesign Audio Engine (DAE). Use Digital Performer as the front end to drive your powerful Pro Tools TDM system. - - - - - - So who knows when they actually have it ready? But at least they're working on it. Later, BobbyA |
