I normally use protools, but I'm trying to learn Logic audio. For some reason I cant monitor a new track while I am recording it. I can hear material previously recorded, and I can see the levels jump as I play along, but I cant hear myself recording the new track. Plays back fine. ?

G3 blue and white 450mhz
768mb ram
os 9.1
using soundmanager (no audio cards just yet)
logic 4.6.3

I have 4 songs that were mixed and mastered (minus bass) elsewhere, and I've extracted from the cd into my mac so I can lay in the bass. Checking, or unchecking the software monitoring box does not solve the problem. I am still unable to hear myself when I am recording. I appreciate your help guys.
