On December 5th, we informed you that MacMusic would be closing in the near future. This brought on an important mobilization and every solution was analyzed in order to consider the survival of your site. We presently know that neither advertising - at least for now - nor a request for 'charitable' donations would ensure the continuity of the site. Its future rests upon users motivation: for this reason, a fee will now be a charged for prolonged access to MacMusic. In order to do so, a method similar to shareware will be put into place very shortly which is a first for an Internet site. The procedure is simple enough: access to MacMusic contents will always be available to all but surfing will progressively and more intensively be reduced for non 'Active Members'. New visitors will have the chance to get to know the site well enough to decide if they want to join our community. The authorized number of pages will of course be globally accounted for before the slowing down no matter how many times someone has visited the site. Once you become an 'Active Member', you can resume normal surfing and even choose not to show avertising banners. The annual price is based on that of monthly magazines although our information is offered on a daily basis and that the proposed services have nothing in common with those of the written press... The level of interactivity between readers is also not quite the same ;-) Unlimited access to MacMusic has therefore been established at $60 a year for 'Active Members' (individuals) and at $100 for 'Active Corporate' (businesses). Another feature enables you to access the status progressively if you can't do otherwise. In that case, you only need to gain MacMusic points up and until the amount of the annual price is reached. You can obtain these points by either buying them by unit (1 point = 1 $), or by making a contribution (articles, news, translations, links...) for which the number of points will be shown online soon. You can also mix the two ways if you wish. Finally, if you are an unwavering supporter of MacMusic and have the means, you can contribute even more by paying a larger amount than the established fee thus giving a more important support to your site. In that case, you can purchase points in advance that can be exchanged for new services soon to be announced. Let us keep in mind that this is the community spirit that has made MacMusic the first site on the planet dedicated to your world. So, are you ready to save MacMusic from being unjustly terminated in the very near future? Act now : become an Active Member!(You will need to be identified to access this page. If you are not already a member, register first.)The MacMusic team -> the first Active MembersAsk your questions here...

Well Well Well It's not a funny thing to say (well… write…) but the server is on his knees. Right now we can only pay (and I'm talking only of paying the server) about 5-6 months of it. Time is ripe to change for a bigger one, because we are on the limit all the time and the server crashes hard (2 really big ones in the last week). The only way not to restrain more the access (right now, only Active Members have access when more than 200 people are connected) it's no more preventively sufficient as troubles begin to occur at 180. To move to a new server appropriate takes time and money. We won't begin that migration before a year of server is secure. before that, we'll have to restrict the access more certainly only to spare us crashes. The only way to keep an access as free as possible is that more people become Active Members, Active Corporate or Supporters (supporters begin at 11$). At this very moment, almost all the AM are from the FRrench part of the site or even teamers. Don't tell me that the ENglish members don't like the site enough not to support it? We are still working on means to beef up the incoming money without asking to members, but it takes time and work. Meanwhile, every single supporter is a step to a better MM experience and we'll have in the next days to take mesures to cope with the trouble at hand Do you want to be MM experienced? Why and how become an AM?
