Hi
I have installed logic 5.5 into OSX and done all the registering bits with emagic but can't seem to get any sound through my Edirol. I also use Reason which gives me no trouble but logic is another kettle of fish!! I have tried to read the War & Peace manual but found it as useful as a chocolate teapot - all what but no how. Where am I going wrong? Can any of you guys help me!

Carol

The track with the grand piano icon this is designed for playing external synthesizers or sound modules (or it can be set up for quicktime instruments). Unless you have an external MIDI device that actually has a sound engine (i.e. not a controller keyboard) you will not hear anything.

It seems that your MIDI is set correctly as you are getting note data on the transport window.

If you have no external synth you will need to use logic's own virtual synths and samplers or Audio Unit synths. You can download a free Audio unit synth at http://www.u-he.com/zoyd/

Can you see an audio instrument track on the arrange window? You will need to load a synth into one of these tracks.
Double click on the audio instrument to open the mixer and insert a synth in the pop-up box just above Out 1-2 on Inst 01 object.

You should now hopefully be able to hear some sounds!
