 Sample Cd's And Me...a Logic Scenario, help! |

Alright, so lately I have been bombarded with possibilites in getting professional quality sounds from going to the kvrvst and sonic control website.
I want to know how Logic (osx 5.3) coincides with Gigasampler, Gigastudio, you know the Giga format in general and how the exs24 fits in. In order to use, like, Garritan, Spectrasonics, and mostly the good-quality but less expensive sample cd's.... will I need to get the exs24 AND the giga studio/sampler??? Will the exs24 be unessasary? or will the giga studio/sampler be unessesary? Can all sample cd's be loaded into Logic on osx (10.1.5 for now)? Why would I need the giga workstation if I already have Logic? Will the exs24 do the job of the giga studio/sampler?? I just want to know the next step..... should I just get the exs24 and get sample cd's....do they need to be in Akai format? I heard the new exs24mk11 can load giga formats.. is this true? I am all lost and undone? Does anyone here understand me? I hope I'm not confusing anyone greatly.. - Jeffro

- So that was what formatj was saying in the first reply? that I have to go into os9 to be able to use an akai cd in osx? "this is not true..... cdxtract runs under OS 9, and you can make esx and aif samples with that." - could you explain how to make esx and aif samples? "Then, all you do, is move the folder or copy the folder or place a short cut into your logic OS X folder....then use esx24 as you would in OS 9!!" - what do you mean by "logic osx folder?" are you talking about the emagic folder in 'applications'? So, let me get this straight... I buy an akai/giga cd (once I get the exs24mk11) and I start up in os9, and I run cdextract. then, somehow, I make exs and aif samples of ALL of the sounds on the akai/giga cd and then I move the folder into logic osx. then, I start back up in osx and the sounds are already in my exs24? do I have to map the sounds from the cd? will the sounds just live on my desktop? I hope I explained this clear enough. - jeffro p.s. I seem to be having a lot of trouble finding a reliable download for cdextract!
