My house was robbed and the bastards stole all my keyboards and outboard gear. The insurance settlement is enough to get a new laptop so I'm going "virtual" with Ableton Live and various software synths. I'm mostly happy with this but one thing I'll miss is my beloved TB-303 - the insurance co only paid me $150 for it because it's "80% depreciated" due to its age!!!! blink.gif

So... what's the best way to get ReBirth into Live on a new MBP, or is it even possible? Thanks for any ideas.

I don't know if MBPs have a "classic" mode as ReBirth ran on OS9. I have a G4 and downloaded but never really used ReBirth. I had trouble authorizing it because it kept asking for a disc to be inserted. I went online to ask about how to work around this issue but was told to not waste my time. There are plenty of free refills for the TB 303 (www.peff.com) and you can use an NNXT and a Matrix to get a pretty convincing version and really....ReDrum is awful close to the 808 in terms of the way it programs beats and you can get some pretty good free 808 sounds out there as well (http://www.goldbaby.co.nz/freestuff.html)......if you don't already have Reason then you should get it as it syncs very easily into Live.

Bleugh, I felt a bit sick after reading your post. My condolences.

The rebirth museum is worth a look

but as far as a working solution for Live, then I'd say mortalengines nailed it.
