HI.

I recently acquired a late-80s model Roland MIDI full size keyboard. I'd like to hook it up to either my original iMac (233) or my Powerbook 3400. I just want to fiddle around with it, nothing professional, so cost is an issue.

My questions are these:

1) What hardware will I need to get started? What is the cheapest way? Ideally, I'd like to run a cord out of the Mac and into my bass amp.

2) What software is reliable and easy to learn, but not too costly. Is there any shareware stuff available that will at least get me started?

Thanks,
Victor
