Hi all,
I have to transfer a lot of DATS to PTLE via a mbox 1 - THe best way to do this is via spdif. I have a cable connected to the out of the DAT to the in on my mbox1. My sound card is on SPDIF / Digital. The phono (digi) cable is plugged into out of DAT to in of MBOX. I've also tried it in different ways (as one does) in-case I really am loosing the plot. Now the question: I have no signal when monitoring in PT. What am I doing wrong? Please help. This should be obvious but for some reason I can't work out what the hell is going on here. Thanks very much in advance for your time. MAC 0SX 10.4.8 1.8Dual PPC 5GB RAM PTLE 7.3.1 DV Tool Kit II This post has been edited by leegrainge: Fri 27 Jul 2007, 17:52 |

This shouldn't be too hard in PTLE. 1st thing to check is that the session you create matches the sample rate of the DAT you're capturing. If you have multiple recordings at different sample rates on the DAT then you'll need a seperate session for each different rate.
Next, go into your IO set-up page and check the ins and outs. From memory, you should have 4 of each, 2 analogue and 2 digital. If these aren't there then you'll need to create new pathways and asign them to the digital ins and outs. Then go to your Hardware set-up and select SPDif as your clock source. It should then be a simple matter of creating a couple of mono tracks (or one stereo), selecting the digtal connections as your inputs (generally these will be Inputs 3 & 4). Don't forget to switch back to internal clocking once the process is done. I may be overegging the pudding, but whenever I do a digital transfer I connect the ins and outs of both devices to create a closed loop (ie DAT out to M-Box in, M-Box out to DAT in). You'll also want to use 75 ohm cable to reduce the chance of digital clicks (the ones that come with Digi gear are fine). -------------------- www.myspace.com/commercialmusicstudios
