Can someone tell me exactly which extensions or what version of Quicktime is required for the "Movie " import function in (my case Logic and Peak) to work- the only way I can import audio from CD's is through Toast audio extractor which crashes my computer (also why?).

the movie import function in logic and peak, not surprisingly, expects a .mov file. it's for importing...movies!
in a floating movie window. to import sound files into logic/peak, as i said, requires aif,sd2, or wav files. to repeat once more. open the audio cd in itunes(free with your mac), or toast, to convert the audio cd data into aif, sd2, or wav files. once you've done this, you can simply drag the files onto logic to load them, or open them in peak. quicktime will obviously convert files to aif if you want to use it for this, but if you then want to load those files into logic, choose the "add audio file" from the audio menu, not "import movie". it makes sense if you think about it... -------------------- one for all and all for one...
