today i was using an 828 in a session with reason and i wanted to use all 8 outputs. i could not figure out how to make the reason hardware driver activate outputs 3-8. i looked everywhere in the driver set up in the control pannels and in the hardware set-up prefs within reason. i also looked in the getting started manuel and the operation manuel pdf file. there was very little info on this topic. if anyone has an 828 and uses reason, please help me out. my session ended up being a waste today and ive got another one in a few weeks that i hope to make up for lost time today.

This, from the Reason operations manual, seems, at least, to fully address what you're trying to accomplish--unless, like damann, I'm missing somthing:
======================== "When you route audio from Reason to a ReWire host application, you make use of the Hardware Interface at the top of the rack. Basically, each output in the Hardware Interface is connected to a separate ReWire channel. "...For example, if your Reason Song contains eight different instrument devices and you connect these to separate inputs on the Hardware Interface, they will appear on separate ReWire channels in the host application. You can then use the mixing facilities in the host application to adjust volume and pan, add effects and equalizing etc. - individually for each Reason device! "If you instead connect all your Reason devices via a Mixer to the stereo input pair on the Hardware Interface, all sounds will appear mixed on a single Re-Wire stereo channel pair...." ============================== The Reason "hardware interface" has 64 audio inputs on the back; hit the Tab key, and route the individual outputs of your various Reason samplers, synths, etc. directly to those, and they should become available to your Rewire apps to mangle as you see fit. Then you may have to do some further fiddling with MOTU's PCI-xx configuration software to get individual signals going out to the individual outputs of the 828, but I disremember exactly how that relates to what, and don't have an OS 9.x box handy at the moment to brush up. Maybe this will help; hope so. |
