Hi, I have got an ibook g4 with os x 10.3.9. I am looking to buy logic pro 7.2 but I don't think it will run on 10.3.9 is this true? If it is, how do I upgrade to 10.4.3, I looked on apple site and tried to upgrade to 10.4.3 but when I downloaded it it said I couldn't run it. Do I have to upgrade step by step i.e. 10.3.9 - 10.4 - 10.4.1 and so on. If I do manage to get 10.4.3 will my little lap top run pro 7 well enough. I've got 768 mb and 1.2 GHz thingy and a 160 gb external hard drive. As you may have guessed I am a computer idiot and do not understand anything beyond music software. Basically I need an idiots guide to getting my ibook as it is, to a state where I can run pro 7 without spending any or much money. Please help if I havn't confused you huh.gif

Hi,

Hope I can be of some assitance to the issue you're having.

First of all, you are correct - 7.2 will NOT run with 10.3.9. But, I do think your machine is more than enough to run Logic Pro 7. I would, however, bump the RAM up to 1.028 GB. Your Processor power is good @ 1.2 GHz. I just wouldn't put a bunch of other software and office apps on your machine. My best advice to you would be to keep it as lean as possible when it comes to working outside of Logic. Remember, everything you put on your computer takes part of the space you NEED for Logic Pro to breathe properly (if you will).

Next, you will have to purchase Tiger which is OS X (10.4.6). See here's what's going on, Apple launches a new operating system using a method I'd say is pretty clever. When the first OS came out for OS X (or OS - Roman Numeral TEN) it was called OS 10.0 Cheetah. And so on and so forth. (OS 10.1 Puma; OS 10.2 Jaguar; OS 10.3 Panther; OS 10.4 Tiger; and in the very near future Apple will launch it's latest and greatest - OS 10.5 Leopard.) So, the point I'm trying to make is that you're running Panther, not Tiger. You need Tiger to run Logic Pro 7.2. And please DO NOT buy Leopard before making sure it's OS is compatible with the drivers in Logic Pro 7.2. Tiger is what you need 10.4.6.

Hope I helped. smile.gif
