Thanks for the help, just to say the sampler is connected to the zip via scsi, parallel port is just the type of zip drive. I'm pretty sure its the right type to use with akai samplers as i know someone else that has the same set-up but they have never experienced problems like this, anyway i shall try installing the system software and see what happens.
