A new audio program for OS X has popped up in VersionTracker. Here's a bit from its "ReadMe":
============Begin Excerpt What it is: Audio Hijack provides extra sugar for all your ear candy. Use it to enhance or record the audio output of ANY application on your Mac*. What it can do: Audio Hijack can add DSP effects to any application which outputs audio content, in addition to recording the audio for later use. The following is just a brief list of what Audio Hijack can be used for: -Add an Equalizer to DVD Player, RealOne, Windows Media Player, and any other application to create the perfect movie watching environment. -Tweak even those low quality Real and Windows Media audio files to perfection with your own combination of our DSP plugins. -Turn on the Reverb and Echo effects, creating a live sound to make your favorite artists sing just for you! Barry White is practically in your bedroom. -Sing along to your favorite music videos using the Karaoke plugin! -Add bass to your game sounds for a life-like rumble. Feel your enemies approaching from behind in Quake! -Increase the volume of one application, such as your music player, above all your other applications via the Double Gain plugin. ============End Excerpt Looks like somebody is starting to pump the Core Audio services a bit, and the program includes some free VST effects. This may be just what the doctor ordered for some of you who have been looking for a way to use DSP on recorded audio. |

Incredible program...
![]() Very cool if you are listening to a mix and trying to sweeten it a little bit and bounce that to aiff. A life saver. Should be part of the OS |
