Hi,

I've been using Audio Desk for a long time for home recording (came with my MOTU 828). I've recently upgraded to a new iMac featuring OSX (used to operate on a cube with OS9), and as a result I have some choices to make regarding my studio.

I can upgrade to Audio Desk 2.0 for pretty cheap, but I was never a big fan of the stock plug-ins that come it. If I were to do the upgrade, I would probably pick-up the tc-electronics powercore.

My other option (and currently preferred) is to get Logic. I'm particularly excited about the MIDI possibilities I would add to my studio with it. However, I'm not sure what the quality of the standard effect plug-ins are. In particular I'd like to know your opinions on the Dynamic processors and the EQ.

Any comments/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Paul

Audio Desk doesn't support 3rd party plugs, the newer version has a few new plugs, and the look and feel of the old ones has changed. So a Powercore will not work with Audio Desk.

I also own Logic Exprees (upgrading to pro soon) the built in effects are quite usable, and if you get logic pro you may not need to purchase additional plugs.

but where logic really shines are the included virtual instuments. the equal or surpass anything from native instruments.

DP4 is not bad, it would be an easy transition for you. DP has a larger collection of plugs and like Logic supports Audio unit plugins.
